Twilight, True Blood, etc.
I went to see Twilight opening night and I really enjoyed the movie.! I feel like it could have been longer and included more stuff from the book, but overall I think they did a very good job. It pretty much followed the storyline of the book and I think the fight scenes between Edward and James were wonderful! Character wise I think the actors playing Edward, Bella, Charlie, Billy, Jacob, James, Laurent, and Victoria were on key. I have to admit that I did not picture Kevin or Eric as the characters who portrayed them. My husband Mike really enjoyed the movie too. He’s so romantic!
Anyway, I think there were some key conversational scenes from the book that were left out of the movie. For example, Bella and Edward had so many conversations that were not shown in the movie. These conversations played a key role in the growth of their relationship and I would have like to have seen that! Anyway, kudos to Stephanie Meyers on her first motion picture and I cannot wait for the following three movies.
True Blood exceeded my expectations as a series entirely. I was very unsure if the characters would capture the essence of Charlaine Harris’ books and I think they went above and beyond that. Having read the books I think I have a one up on some people, but I honestly enjoyed watching this first season in its entirety. I am very sad that it won’t be coming back until Summer 2009, but I think the reason it was so short is because they were unsure how many fans the books actually had and they didn’t know how well received it would be. I think that the measure of success from the fans actually blew them away. So, here’s to the next season of True Blood.
Reading update…I am rereadng The Witching Hour by Anne Rice. I read this years and years ago while in high school and I am really enjoying rereading it now. There were some things I have realized I didn’t catch back then and I’m unsure if it was because of the maturity level needed to read this book or the fact that it contains so many detailed descriptions.
In school, I have just created my first project for class. It was a personal logo in black and white. I think I really did a good job capturing my nature. It’s posted here for you to see. I got an A on the project itself and this week we are experimenting with different colors for the logo. Once that is done I’ll post the final with the color(s) that I chose. Anyway, let me know if you like it!
Getting back in the habit
So I have been gone for a bit, but I am finally trying to get back in the habit of things. It’s been crazy juggling work, school, and family and I have been pretty stressed lately. So, I thought to myself…What makes you feel better? The simplest answer I had was…unleashing my creativity. As far as I can remember, the last time I actually sat back and worked on my passion was nearly a year ago and I find that totally unacceptable. I have decided to try as hard as I can to get at least one design in every couple of weeks. I need this because otherwise I think I am going to lose my mind. I have finally started my core graduate classes and I think that will delve my creative influences back to the surface so that I can feel compelled to create again and push me through this mundane conundrum of existence. Having said that mouthful, I am heartily looking forward to seeing Twilight when it is finally released Friday!!!
Mike and I have decided to seek out a babysitter, play hookey from work, and dash to the nearest theater! I am very excited and it makes me feel like I’m a lovestruck teenager skipping school again!
So, to every Twilight fan out there…let’s show our support opening weekend and let Stephanie Meyer know just how much we care!
Until next time,
Erica

Reading update
Just wanted to give you an update on my reading progress…LOL! Believe it or not I have been managing to sneak some reading in! I have finished all of the Anita Blake books that have been written thus far. I have finished all of the Sookie Stackhouse novels thus far. I have finished all the Fred the Mermaid series novels this far. I have finished all of the Twilight series books written this far. So, I am anxiously awaiting the next books for each of these series. In the meantime I have to take a look at my Shelfari page and figure out what I’ll be reading next!
