One hectic week!
This week has been the worst week ever.
I am soooo tired. I had to bring my daughter to a dr. appt on Monday and when I tried to start my car…the battery was dead! So, Monday was shot as I don’t do car maintenance and I had to wait for Mike to get off of work to get me another battery. Ok, Tuesday morning we tried it again and were able to get to the dr. for them to perform tests on her because of her asthma flare up. All was going well until Tuesday afternoon when Mike had to leave work early because he wasn’t feeling well. When he got home he just tumbled into bed and I knew that he was very sick because normally when he gets a cold he is still up and about trying to do things in the house, etc. He had a fever at 102.3 and started getting the chills. I went to the store and got him some medicine and ingredients to make him some homemade soup. That evening he was still not better. He was also complaining that his chest was hurting, but he had a slight cough so that was probably the culprit. At 4am Wednesday morning he started vomiting. That was my cue to get him to the ER. They saw us fairly quickly and assessed that he had flu like symptoms. They said his chest pains were from his coughing and prescribed him tamiflu and an antibiotic. They also said if he got any worse to bring him back to the ER because he still had a slight fever at 100.7. We went home and I noticed that my baby girl was covered in what looked like little mosquito bites all over her body. I called her dr. to see if they could fit her in. I thought she had gotten the chicken pox, but her dr. said it was hives. Thank goodness because me and the boys have never had the chicken pox. She told me to give her Benadryl and prescribed a cream for her itching. Later that night, Mike’s chest pains got worse and when he started doubling over from pain, we jumped back into the car to go back to the ER. FYI, at this point it was pouring down raining outside and I could hardly see in front of me to drive. We get to the ER and they said to give the medicine a day or two to start working. He would feel worse before he began to feel better. I mentioned that he was coughing up mucus, but there was blood in it and the nurse tells me this is nothing to be alarmed about!
This really confused me! We went back home and he suffered with chest pains and a 103.6 fever. I gave him motrin and tylenol and finally his fever broke later Wednesday night. The next day he was feeling a little better, but his chest was still hurting. He was able to get up and around a bit which I warned him against. Thursday night….still more chest pains. Friday morning he woke up and got dressed for work because his excuse was only through Thursday. He left the house at 5:15a and was back home by 7:30a. He was cringing with pain and we drove straight back to the ER! Something was definitely still wrong. When we got there we were seen right away and they took x-rays of his chest. But before this they were saying that he had antibiotics, he had tamiflu, there probably was nothing else they could do for him. Did I mention they did not take any chest x-rays the first time we were there!! Anyway, chest x-rays showed he had pneumonia and pleurisy caused by the pneumonia. So, he was prescribed a stronger antibiotic and a cough medicine for bedtime. I guess I feel like all of this could have been found if he had gotten an x-ray on the very first visit or even later that night!!! Anyway, he is getting a little better and I am trying to catch up on school work, house work, and keep the kids in line. It’s been a very exhausting week
. Wish me luck and send me prayers!
Until next time…
